Reversi

Reversi

Reversi, also known as Othello, is a popular board game that has been around since the late 1800s. While there is no proof of when or where the game originated, historians believe it takes its roots either in China or in England at the end of the 19th century. There is some argument over who the inventor of the game was, but it can be said with some certainty that one person invented the rules while another invented the game board.

Reversi takes its inspiration from a number of sources, including popular board games of the 19th century and the popular Shakespearean play, Othello. Reversi is a popular strategy game with an interesting, if uncertain, history. Keep reading to learn how to play!

How To Play Reversi

Reversi is a two player board game in which white and black circular tiles compete for positions on a game board. The object of Reversi is to block your opponent’s move while connecting as many of your own tiles as possible. The game is similar to the popular children’s game, Connect Four.

When placing stones or tiles, players must place their game piece next to one of their opponent’s game pieces. In this way, the tiles are kept separate on the board, and players must use thoughtfulness and strategy to connect their tiles. Once a player has surrounded their opponent’s stones with their own, they may replace the opponents stones with their own. In this way, the opponent loses stones while the winning player adds a higher number of stones to the table.

The game does not end while moves are still available on the table. When you play Reversi online, it is easy to see the entire game board and take hints from the computer, making this the ideal setting in which to learn to play Reversi. When all moves are blocked, the game is over and the player with the most tiles on the board wins.

Reversi is a game of skill, luck and strategy that takes only a moment to learn but a lifetime to master. Play othello online today and start building your skills and strategies!
